Achu Murukku

INGREDIENTS

Raw rice flour: 1 Cup
Maida or All-purpose flour : ¼ Cup
Sugar or Jaggery powder : 1 Cup
Sesame or Cumin seeds : 1 teaspoon
Thick coconut milk : 1 Cup
Salt : ½ teaspoon or a pinch
Oil : For oil frying

Method of Preparation:

  1. First you have to sieve the raw rice flour, maid or all-purpose flour, sugar powder or Jaggery powder together.
  2. Now you have to add thick coconut milk and salt with the sieved flour and mix well, without lumps.
  3. The Achu murukku batter should be like Idli batter consistency, which means, it should not be too liquid. Because it won’t come out of the mould or if it’s too thick it won’t be crispy. So, put water according to you batter smooth consistency.
  4. Now, heat oil in a Kadaai, once oil is heated up place the Achu murukku mould in hot oil for one minute.
  5. Then, you can take the mould and dip it instantly into the Achu murukku batter to 3/4th, which means not wholly. As the Achu murukku mould is warm the batter will stick it now place that in the hot oil. After the batter is half done, use a fork to release the murukku to the oil. Do the same for remaining batter.
  6. Now, turn it on other sides and fry it to light brown or golden brown till crispy. Repeat the same step for remaining batter. Each time before you dip the mould in the batter, keep the mould in the hot oil for a minute.
  7. First you have to sieve the raw rice flour, maid or all-purpose flour, sugar powder or Jaggery powder together.
  8. Now the delicious Achu Murukku is ready. Enjoy! Have a nice day!
