What are the foods and goods very famous in Tamilnadu?

Tamilnadu is not only known for its rich Traditions and culture, it is also known for foods, shopping, etc. Most of the tourist does not know about famous shopping goods in Tamilnadu. Here, we have covered top 60 famous products which is very unique and emerged in Tamilnadu. Tamilnadu has 32 districts. Every district has unique food cultures and traditions. Tirunelveli - Halwa

Tirunelveli also known as Nellai. It is one of the ancient city in south of Tamil nadu, located on the banks of the river Tamirabarani. I think everyone in South India will be familiar with the well-known Tirunelveli Halwa sold at Irutukadai in Tirunelveli. This is one of my much-loved sweet. The art of sweet-making feast to other parts of Tamil Nadu, such as Rajapalayam, Nagercoil, Thoothukudi and Srivilliputhur. Srivilliputhur - Palkova

Palkova is a Delightful sweet made from Cow Milk and Sugar. It is prepared by bucketing lots of milk in the pot and condensing it by steaming on a gentle fire, to which sugar is added towards the end. The New and good quality Palkova is well-known in the Srivilliputhur, which is 60 KMs away from south of Madurai. This town is well-known for its antique heritage temples and Palkova. The Andal temple tower in this town is the official emblem of Tamil nadu. There is a distinct temple for Andal here. There are many shops vending Palkova near the Andal temple which has a exclusive taste.

Kovilpatti - Kadalaimittai

Kovilpatti, a hub for many products like Match sticks, Kadalai Mittai etc., Kadalai Mittai is a distinctive knick-knack in Kovilpatti. Kadalai Mittai is made all over the State, but the Kovilpatti Kadalai Mittai is very special. Kadalai Mittai is prepared from groundnut, Jaggery, cardamom powder. Kadalai Mittai is a Healthy and a Protein amusing snack. Jaggery is a good purgative agent for the body and delivers good amount of minerals. When united with peanuts which also hast great content of protein, these bars are a really healthy snack to grab. These are great add-ons to Children on their regular menu.

Panruti - Jackfruit

Panruti is a town, municipality and Taluk headquarters of Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu, India. Panruti is situated between Cuddalore and Viluppuram districts. Panruti is well-known for Jackfruit and cashews. The Jackfruit grown here is exported worldwide and is very honeyed. The biggest jackfruit in Panruti evaluates over 70 kg which really makes it a hot contender for the Guinness Book of Records. A Hawaiian jackfruit, at a simple 34 kg grips the title at present. By not gambling a claim, Panruti is grudging itself of a world record title every year. It has been a great commercial area for more than a 200 years.

Bhavani -Jamakkalam

Bhavani and Chennimalai are very famous for handloom, power loom textile products and ready-made garments. In the year 2005, Bhavani Jamakkalam i.e., Bhavani bed sheets was registered as a Geographical Indication by the Government of India. It is also well-known for textiles. Anthiyur and Modachur (Gobichettipalayam) shandy are famous for cattle. Jamakkalam Durry or Durret is made out of cotton yarn or art silk yarn or wool yarn or jute yarn or in any mixture. Jambai is a place near Bhavani and is very famous for production of Jamakkalam or the thick bedspread.

Usilampatti - Bread

Usilampatti is a Town and a municipality in Madurai district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. As of 2011, the town had a population of 35,219. Bread is a basic food prepared from a dough of flour and water, usually by baking. Through recorded history it has been popular around the globe and is one of the eldest artificial foods, having been of significance since the dawn of agriculture. There are many mixtures and proportions of types of flour and other ingredients, and also of different traditional recipes and modes of preparation of bread. Most of the people does not know the Usilampatti is famous for bread.

Nachiyar Koil - Lamp & Bronze goods

Nachiar Koil is located closely 10 KMs away from Kumbakonam and 50 KMs away from the Thanjavur on the roadway of Kumbakonam to Tiruvarur. Nachiar Koil is belongs to Thiruvidaimarudur Block, Kumbakonam Taluk, Thanjavur District. It has population of nearly 10,000 inhabitants. In the year 1920s Kammalar's was creating the kuthuvilakku (Oil lamps) patterns and started the production of these lamps, which are a main traditional production in the state. About 500 families are engaged in the brass lamp production. There are about 2500 artisans existing in the cluster, spread across 10 villages.

Pollachi - Coconuts

Pollachi is situated at the southern part of Coimbatore city and is the second largest town in Coimbatore district. Dissimilar most of the towns in Tamil Nadu, Pollachi experiences an enjoyable weather given its closeness to the Western Ghats. Pollachi supplies coconuts and tender coconuts throughout India and hence is also known as ‘Coconut City’. Another interesting thing is Pollachi Jaggery Market is one of the largest markets in entire Asia and the vegetable market supplies bulk of vegetables to the central region of Kerala. Cattle and old iron markets in Pollachi are also one of the largest in the whole of South India.

Vedaranyam - Salt

Salt manufacturing is the foremost cradle of income for many in this region and Vedaranyam subsidizes considerably to India’s position as the third largest salt manufacturer in the globe. Numerous companies have industrialised units in the region and they acquire salt in bulk quantities from the farmers for further purification and packaging. Thoothukudi is the major salt producer in Tamil Nadu with Vedaranyam following close on its heels. Salt manufactured here is exported to an enormous number of countries. Salt is produced in as much as 9000 acres of land amounting to an projected 3.5 million tonnes.

Salem is often mentioned to as the Mango City of India. Salem mangoes are famous all over the country and the major seasons are May – June (summer time) of the year. In India, Sago was produced first in Salem (Tamil Nadu) in 1943-44, about some 50 years ago. In Salem District alone there are 649 units establishing 89.5 percent.
